Become Part of the HABC Family
Church membership is more than having your name on a list. It is a commitment to worship, grow, serve, and carry out the Great Commission together with a local church family.
Whether you are newly saved, recently baptized, or transferring from another church, we would be glad to help you understand the next step.
A pastor will contact you to arrange a brief membership meeting.
What Membership Means
Becoming a member of Huisache Avenue Baptist Church means joining a family of believers who are committed to glorifying the Lord together.
As members, we seek to:
Faithfully gather for worship and preaching
Grow through God’s Word
Pray for and encourage one another
Support the ministry through giving and service
Help reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ
This says essentially what the current page says, but without sounding like a list of demands before the visitor understands the heart behind membership. The present wording immediately emphasizes attendance, tithes, loyalty, and responsibilities.
Your Path to Membership
Know Christ as Your Saviour
Church membership begins with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Salvation is received by grace through faith in Christ alone—not through baptism, good works, or church membership.
Take Your Membership Step
After meeting with a pastor, you can become a member through one of the following paths:
By Baptism
For someone who has trusted Christ but has not yet been baptized by immersion after salvation.
By Statement of Faith
For someone who has trusted Christ, has already been baptized by immersion after salvation, and is in agreement with the doctrine of HABC.
By Transfer of Membership
For someone coming from another church of like faith and practice.
You should verify whether HABC formally uses a separate “transfer of letter” category. The current page does not clearly distinguish transfer from statement of faith. Instead, it lists “Testimony of Faith and Baptism” and “Statement of Faith by Baptism,” which sound very similar and may confuse visitors.
What Happens Next?
After you submit the form:
A pastor will contact you.
We will schedule a meeting.
We will discuss your salvation, baptism, and agreement with the church’s beliefs.
When you are ready, you will be presented to the church for membership.
This would explain the process more naturally than waiting until the end to mention coming forward during an invitation and being voted into membership.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
We would be honored to speak with you, answer your questions, and help you determine whether HABC is the church home where the Lord would have you worship and serve.
